I have now been a photographer for over 40 years, having purchased my first SLR in 1983 (a Minolta X700).  This was of course during the ‘analogue era’ and involved using film as the physical recording media which then had to be processed etc. before it could be printed and viewed.

I set up my own darkroom pretty much straightaway and began producing my own prints in both colour and black & white.  At that time we were also able to produce colour prints from transparencies (slide film) using a process called Cibachrome, this process produced rich vibrant glossy prints from the likes of Kodachrome, Ektachrome and Fujichrome film…. (ahhh…happy days).

In 1987 I switched to a Nikon F3 which was one of the top professional 35mm SLR cameras of the day. This was my main camera of choice (along with a Mamiya medium format camera) until 2008 when I turned to the ‘dark side’ (as it felt at the time) of the digital world.  I still own (and rarely but occasionally use) the Nikon F3. These days I shoot almost exclusively with Sony or Leica cameras and lenses from 16mm all the way up to 600mm.

I enjoy photographing many subjects and have never really focused (no pun intended) on any particular style, genre or latest trend.

Home for me is Cornwall in the South West corner of England, but I have a long standing love affair with the Scottish Highlands and Islands.  Switzerland with its majestic mountains and wonderful scenery is also a favourite place.
